Ritter Solar Thermal is the largest evacuated tube manufacturer in Germany.
The evacuated tube collectors
The Ritter Solar evacuated tube consists of three main components:
- Evacuated tubes
- CPC Mirror
- Collecting box with heat transfer unit
The Evacuated Tube
The evacuated tube is a product that is optimised in geometry and performance.
The tubes are composed of two concentric glass tubes that are half spherically closed on one side and fused on the other side. The gap between the tubes is evacuated and afterwards hermetically plugged (vacuum insulation).
The highly selective sputter layer (aluminium nitrite) is applied to the exterior of the internal tube in vacuum.
The CPC Mirror
In order to increase efficiency of the evacuated tubes, a highly reflecting, weather proof CPC mirror (Compound Parabolic Concentrator) is placed behind the evacuated tubes.
The special mirror geometry ensures that at unfavourable irradiation angles direct and diffuse sunlight falls onto the absorber. Due to the particular mirror geometry, the power yield ove the course of the day is almost constant.
Collecting box with heat tranfer unit
The collecting and distribution pipes are located inside the collecting box.
In each evacuated tube there is a U pipe with direct flow-through that is connected to the collecting or distribution pipes. This U pipe is seamed in a heat guide plate in the interior of the evacuated tube that transmits the heat from the interior tube to the U pipe.
Easy to service
- Due to a special mounting technology, the evacuated tubes and mirrors can be changed without tools, if necessary.
- The "dry connection" makes emptying of the unit for tube exchange redundant
