Solar Thermal (Hot Water)
Please click to see a plain guide on how solar thermal works.
Installing a solar thermal system can drastically reduce your fuel bills, and by installing one of our solar systems you are eligible for the
renewable heat incentive (starting October 2012). In the mean time you may be
eligible for the government's RHI premium payout to help cover the cost of installation. Details of the premium payout are due to be published
in May this year.
For an estimate or quotation please contact us from the details on the right or fill out the online self assessment form.
Our quotations and estimates are for a fully installed system with no extra hidden charges.
Integration
To get the maximum benefits from a solar thermal system, it is of paramount importance that the system is integrated properly. Our vast experience with all sizes and types of solar thermal systems will enable us to advise what system will offer you the most benefits for your particular application/home. There is usually no need to replace your existing boiler system.
Making your Solar Thermal system pay it's way
CO2
An average sized solar thermal system will save approximately 1 tonne of CO2 per year
Cost
The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is a Government-backed incentive to make it worth your while to produce renewable heat. Very similar to the 'Feed-In-Tariff' for PV, you earn a fixed income for every kilowatt hour of heat you produce. This is likely to be used in your own property, but if you are lucky enough to be connected to a heat network you could get an additional payment for 'exporting' surplus heat. This is a guaranteed fixed payment for a period of 20 years. Add this to the reduction in your standard heating bill and solar thermal offers an impressive 12% return on investment.
Savings Example
A typical domestic solar thermal system consist of 2 flat plate collectors. Producing in the region of 2078 kW heat per annum.
2078kWh X 8.5p per kw/h (Heat Incentive) = £176.63p per year + a further 25% saving on the average heating bill.
Three levels of price and performance
We supply and install 3 different manufacturers solar thermal panels, ranging in price and type so we should be able to offer a product
that suits your requirements.
Option 1: Ritter Vacuum Tube System
The entry level product by Ritter, is a vacuum tube system. This panel is of excellent quality and offers a very good level of performance.
Evacuated tubes are the most efficient means of generating hot water from the sun.

Option 2: Genersys Flat Panel System
The flat plate panels by Genersys, are of a super high quality and come with a manufacturers 20 years panel warranty. Flat plates
are the original type of panel and are still very popular due to their strength and durability. These are not as efficient in
percentage terms as a vacuum tube but to overcome this they are considerably larger in size so output is roughly the same.

Option 3: Viessman Vacuum Tube System
The top of the range panels that we offer are Viessmann vacuum tube type. This panel offers outstanding all year round performance
and the reflector on this model is contained within the tubes so it will not erode or get dirty.
